BACK INTO FLAMES

GIRL RUNS FROM RESCUER. AN HEROIC YOUTH. MELBOURNE, October 23. Detecting an outbreak of fire in a boarding house at Tempy early yesterday, Mr Roy Heyland rushed into a bedroom, where his two sisters, Kathleen (aged 11) and Mavis (aged 6) were sleeping. He caught hold of both, but released Mavis, to push open the door. Mavis at once rushed back into the flames. The brother brought Kathleen out, and tried to get back again, and, although the smoke and flames were too thick, he had to be dragged away. Both Kathleen and her brother were taken to hospital, suffering from bums and shock. The charred body of Mavis was recovered .fiorn the debris.
