RYELAND BREEDERS
A SOCIETY FORMED. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON, NORTH, November 6. The preliminary steps for the formation of a New Zealand Society of Ryeland Sheep Breeders were taken at a meeting to-day, when Mr E. Averill (Hastings) presided over a representative attendance. Mr T. A. Stephens, in moving the formation of the Society, expressed the conviction that the Ryeland was the coming sheep, and considered that the establishment of a Society was essential in order that the breed should be given the consideration it deserved. It was decided that new members whose flocks were not registered in the New Zealand Sheep Breeders’ Association be charged an entrance fee of £2 2/-, those joining after December, 1925, to be charged in addition £5 registration fee. The following were elected:—President, Mr T. A. Stephens (Irwell); Vice-Presi-dent, Mr E. Averill; Council: Messrs W. Deem (Waverley), F. J. Ellis (Bulls), M. S. Chambers (Havelock North), T. W. Lonsdale (Marohimo), Bayly Withell (Ealing), J. Brooks (Irwell), W. O. Rennie (Doyleston), J, D. Hall (Hororata) ; Executive: President, Vice-President, and Messis Brooks, Rennie and Hall; secretary, Mr M. Banks (Christchurch).
