RADIUM APPEAL
SOUTHLAND’S CONTRIBUTIONS. PREMIER FAVOURABLY BIPRESSED. (Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, November 6. A deputation consisting of Hons. G. J. Anderson and J. A. Hanan and Mr P. A. de la Perrelle, M.P., interviewed the Prime Minister this morning, urging him to provide a Government subsidy on the amount of subscriptions raised in Southland for the purchase of radium. The deputation pointed out that money had been subscribed in Southland, and that a Government subsidy should be given in connection with the public subscription in Southland. The Prime Minister, in reply, said that there was some difficulty in the way of doing this; but, taking all the circumstances into consideration, he was favourably inclined towards the appeal that had been made to him by the deputation. He suggested to Hon. G. J. Anderson that, in order to keep the matter in mind, he should bring the subject matter of their representations before him at the next Cabinet meeting.
