BOWLING

MATAURA CLUB. SEASON OPENED. (From Our Correspondent.) Under ideal weather conditions the Mataura Bowling Club opened its green for the season on Wednesday, when there was a good attendance of bowlers. The President (Mr W. H. Barrett) extended a hearty welcome to all, and was pleased to see so many present. He trusted that members would experience a pleasant and successful season. Mrs Barrett then rolled the first bowl, a toucher, and the green was declared open for the season. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies at a suitable interval. The match, President v. Vice-President, resulted in a win for the former, the score being as follows:
