SOCIALISM

MR MACDONALD’S DEFINITION. CBy Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, September 10. (Received September 11, 11 pan.). In an introduction to his book on “Sorialism,” Mr Ramsay MacDonald writes: “It is good that workmen should not tolerate unjust industrial conditions, but in struggling to obtain their ends they should not forget that they are interdependent members of society and by injuring society they are injuring themselves. Doles, Poplar-ism, strikes and limitation of output are not Socialism. Socialists look with misgiving upon the recent developments of industrial conflicts which are contrary to the spirit of Socialism, are immoral, uneconomic and will lead to disaster.”
