SOUTHLAND LAND BOARD.
To the Editor. Sir, —Some time ago I wrote you in regard to the then constitution of the Southland Land Board, and the lack thereon of a representative of high-country tenants. I understand the Minister of Lands promised some considerable time ago to consider favourably the requirements of back-country men when any further appointments were being made, and I believe Mr Massey, when in Invercargill, in reply to a special deputation which waited on him, gave his definite undertaking to the same effect. Appointments to the Board have lately been made, and the same defect is still apparent, there being not a single member with the least knowledge of high-country conditions and requirements. Perhaps Mr James King, who was one of the deputation to Mr Massey, can throw some light on the matter.—l am, etc., A SUFFERER THROUGH NONREPRESENTATION.
