GORE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (From our Correspondent.) Messrs A. Speden (Chairman), D. A. Dunn (secretary), R. W. McCreath, A. A. Rose, A. F. Marett, W, K. Hamilton, J. Harper and Dr J. J. Gresham attended the usual monthly meeting of the Gore School Committee on Tuesday evening. The headmaster reported an average roll number of 457.9 (243.7 boys and 214.2 girls) for the month ended July 25, with an average attendance of 412.3 (220.2 boys and 192.1 girls), these figures giving an attendance percentage of 90. Accounts amounting to £6 IQs 3d were passed for payment. An obstruction in the water supply for the school lavatories was reported. It was resolved to apply for a new 1-inch service, the smaller pipes hitherto in use being considered inadequate. Plans for a further step in the beautifying of the School grounds were set out. These include the formation of a playground for the little tots at the western extremity of the property, an improved roadway giving access to the back of the school, the shifting of outbuildings into new and better positions, a much needed improvement to the portion of the grounds just inside the front fence, and the planting of shrubs, etc. The necessary authority for these works is being applied for, and they should be put in hand shortly.
