CONVICTION QUASHED
IRREGULAR PROCEEDINGS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 11 An unusual motion was heard by Hil? Honor Mr Justcie Adams in the Supreme ' Court, when Mr C. S. Thomas (solicitor) ! moved for a writ of prohibition against Mr: Wyvern Wilson, S.M., or any other magis-l trate, from sentencing Loinel Irving, who! was convicted without sentence in the’ Magistrate’s Court by Mr Wilson, and then re-arrested on the same charge—that of obscene exposure. The grounds of the motion were that Irving was not informed of his right of trial by jury, and that, not- ' withstanding his plea of not guilty, a plea of guilty was entered against him. The Judge said the course followed waa irregular, and the proceedings were void. . He declared the conviction quashed. x
