RARE IMPERSONATION
EXAMINEES CHARGED AT DUNEDIN. ALLEGED USE OF FALSE NAMES. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 19. An unusual case was heard in the Police Court to-day. Gordon Stuart McLauchlan and Herbert Hill Webb were charged with forging an examination paper on general hygiene for the teachers’ D certificate. Stewart Bell MacLennan was charged with forging a slip for the practical music test. McLauchlan went to the hygiene examination in the name of, and in the place of Webb and signed the slip in Webb’s name. McLennan impersonated McLauchlan. The three accused admitted the offences when seen by the examination supervisors. For the defence it was contended that the charge did not come within the definition of forgery, as laid down in the Crimes Act, as authority was given by the students for the impersonation. The Magistrate reserved his decision.
