FOOTBALL POSTPONEMENT.
To the Editor. Sir, —I notice in the report of the Rugby Union meeting, that it was stated by one member that the Star Football Club, had been granted a postponement on account of its members being unable to play owing to influenza. I would like to take the opportunity to state that this statement is not correct. The Star seniors have met every engagement that has been set down by the Union, and at no time during the present season have they made any application for a postponement. The only mention that has ever been made, and this was not mentioned officially, was made to the president of the Union, in connection with the fixtures that were to be played last Wednesday, July 4. It was stated then, that if many of the Star seniors were called upon to travel to Mataura, it would not be fair to ask the team to play a club fixture at Winton. The point is that the Star senior team had not asked for any postponement on account of any members being laid aside by illness, and it was only because the Rugby Union wished the services of five of the players for the Eastern match that the matter was mentioned at all. I would like* to make it clear that the Star club are not raising any objection to the Wednesday fixtures being altered on account of the Marist team not being able to get out its best side, but trust that the Rugby Union wall give Star the same consideration if they find it necessary at any time to make an application on the same or similar lines. I am, etc. H. J. BROWN. Captain Star F.C
