To the Editor. Sir, —I was pleased to note in your issue of the 3rd inst. a letter upon the beef trade by “Agricola," with which I thoroughly agree. But, if not presuming, I would like to point out that if “Agricola’s” scheme of baby beef should be taken by anyone now, when cows could be so easily bought, it would be a most profitable time to go in for the venture. If “Agricola's” figures are anywhere near the mark, surely the return from a .50/- to £3 cow for, say four or five years from day of purchase of said cow, must be good business. In conclusion, I must endorse “Agricola’s” views on the one-sided method of killing charges at the Southland abattoirs. I am, etc., GOOD BUSINESS,
