DUNEDIN EXHIBITION
A CHRISTCHURCH REFERENCE. (Per United Press Association.) | CHRISTCHURCH. June 20. Reference to the intention of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association to support an international exhibition to be held in Dunedin in the near future was made at a meeting of the Canterbury Industrial Association this evening by Mr W. J. Jenkin (president), who expressed dissatisfaction with the action of the Dunedin Association. He maintained that the New Zealand Association had decided to support the exhibition only on the understanding that it was of an Imperial character. Many Christchurch manufacturers had decided not to support the exhibition. “We don’t want to see what other manufacturers are doing,” he said, “we are doing quite well enough ourselves.” Other speakers said New Zealand industrialists were working for the good of Dominion industry, and whatever industrial- | ists in Dunedin might do individually, they ; should not drag the Association into it. : Mr B. H. Webb: I think New Zealand manufacturers should be represented at the exhibition in force individually. We will get a chance of showing very favourably in comparison with outside manufacture and after all we need not be afraid of exI Dibits coming from beyond Australia. We i should certainly be there to show what we can do. Mr J. W. Woodroffe: Yes, individually. Mr Jenkin: It is all a question of a scrap of paper again. The matter then dropped.
