Another big Stock Exchange firm, the tanking house of Zimmerman’s, have announced suspension after ninety-one years. According to a Savannah telegram, martial law has been declared following a night’s rioting, in an attempt by a mob to storm the gaol to lynch a negro, charged with assaulting a white woman. OTTAWA, June 20. Montreal advices state that a fresh trial has started of Delorme, the Catholic priest accused of murdering his half-brother. Delorme was placed in the insane asylum pending the new trial. He contends he is sane and innocent. NEW YORK, June 20. At Chicago, Mr Samuel Gompera, addressng the Wheat Conference, declared that a union organised like the labour unions was the only hope of the American farmer. He described the practice of resorting to legislative cure-alls, and said: “There is no force in our social organisation that will not come to the Council table with the farmers when t>e latter find a way to combine their itrengtfi.”
