Mr T. Meredith has been appointed represent the Southland Rugby Union on the Southland League Executive. A Dunedin Press Association telegram announces the death of Lady McLean, widow of Sir George McLean. Miss Emily J. Martin, a colonist of 58 years standing, who died on June 13, bequeathed £B5OO to various institutions, £lOOO each to the Salvation Army (Auckland), the Y.W.C.A. (Auckland), the Mount Albert Methodist Orphanage and the National Orphanages. London, founded by Dr Stephenson ; the Auckland Methodist Home Mission church extension fund, and the Methodist foreign mission fund, also £5OO each to the Blind Institute, St. Mary’s Home at Otahuhu, and the Door of Hope, Auckland.—Press Association.
