ENDOWMENT LANDS
EFFECT OF RECENT LEGISLATION (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, June 18. doubt exists in the minds of partoralists in regard to the effect of the legislation passed in 1921, amending the land laws especially in regard to endowment lands. In a letter received by the Minister of Lands from the Otago and Southland Sheepowners’ Union, to which he replied yesterday, appreciation is expressed of the efforts made by the Hon D. H. Guthrie to improve the conditions of the tenure of crown lease holders, but the extension of the new Act is urged to benefit the holders of leases of endowment lands. The Minister in his reply had drawn attention to clause 19 (2) of the Act and clause 15, which extend the privileges to land held in any education reserve or other endowment administered by a land board.
