PADEREWSKI

POLE’S GREAT RECEPTION. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, June 17. (Received June 17, 8.45 p.m.) Paderewski had an amazing reception in the Theatre des Champs Eysees after a three hours’ recital. The audience applauded and demanded encores for another hour and a quarter before the curtain was allowed to be rung down finally. The receipts amounted to 120,000 francs. Every inch of standing room was occupied, apart from several hundred people on the stage behind the piano. Paderewski and his wife had another enthusiastic reception in the street after the concert, where a crowd shouted “Vive la Pologne.”
