WIRELESS
MARCONI’S DISCOVERIES. GREAT COMMERCIAL BENEFIT. (By Telej raph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, June 17. Signor Marconi has returned after a two months’ cruise, in which he carried out a senes of important experiments in wireless. He says: “ The results were satisfactory and constitute a great forward step. We transmitted messages over distances up to 2250 miles with much smaller power and at a faster rate than ever before. We used less power in sending more rapid messages between Cape Verde and London than is now used between Paris and London. This was done by securing more efficient production waves. Our discoveries mean that long-distance wireless stations in future will be built at reduced cost. Signals will be sent much cheaper and faster than is now possible, and the press and public will ultimately benefit by reduced charges.”
