YESTERDAY’S SESSION MOTIONS OF CONDOLENCE HOUSE ADJOURNS UNTIL TUESDAY. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. WELLINGTON, June 15. The House met at 2.30. LEVEL CROSSING DANGERS. At the close of formal business, MR WILFORD, as a matter of urgency, asked the Minister of Railways if he would take immediate steps to secure the safety of level railway crossings. In reply, the Hon. J. G. COATES said that the matter would have not only his own early and careful consideration, but that of his colleagues in Cabinet also. SYMPATHY WITH MR RANSOME. MR HORN moved that three days’ leave of absence be granted Mr Ransome, Member for Pahiatua, owing to a bereavement in the family. Speaking to the motion, MR MASSEY said that when trouble came to any member of the House, no matter what his politics might be, party feeling was immediately dropped, and he felt sure all would join in expressing sympathy with the member, for Pahiatua in the sad bereavement he has suffered. MR WILFORD and MR HOLLAND joined in expressing sympathy with Mr Ransome on behalf of the Liberal and Labour Parties respectively, Mr Wilford thanking the Government for offering him a pair for Mr Ransome during his enforced absence. MOTIONS OF CONDOLENCE. MR MASSEY then moved the customary motion of condolence with the relatives of Sir William Herries, who passed away during the recess. The motion was agreed to after being sympathetically supported by Mr Wilford, Mr Holland, the Hon. C. J. Parr, the Hon. J. G. Coates and Messrs Macmillan, Ngata, Sidey, Young and Hockley. Similar motions were passed in connection with the deaths of the Hon. C. H. Mills, A. P. Seymour, Edmond Pearce and W. W. Collins, ex-members of the House. As a mark pf respect to the memories of the deceased, the House rose at 4.12 till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
