CROSSING FATALITY

M.P.’s DAUGHTER KILLED. (Per United Press Association). DANNEVIRKE, June 15. Allardyce street level crossing, which has been the scene of several fatalities and serious accidents, was responsible for another bad accident this morning when the first train from the north, running late, crashed into a motor car containing Miss Joyce Ransom, aged 19, daughter of Mr E. A. Ransom, M.P. (Pahiatua), and Miss Hazel Grace Mexted, 18, daughter of a retired farmer. Just how the car got on the line is unknown, as it was in view of the approaching train. It was carried along 55 yards by the engine and badly damaged. Miss Ransom was thrown out at the crossing and Miss Mexted was carried along in the car and walked back to Miss Ransom, who was getting free from the debris, and then collapsed. Miss Ransom was seriously injured, and expired an hour later. Miss Mexted sustained injury to a leg, and received a shock, but is not in danger.
