GHASTLY TRAGEDY
CUBANS ROASTED TO DEATH. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable. Association.) NEW YORK, June 13. (Received June 14, 7.15 p.m.). The sugar freighter, Santa Theresa, arrived at Philadelphia, and reports that five Cuban stowaways were trapped between the coal bunkers and the boilers, while the ship was en route from Cuba, they were literally roasted to death by the scorching heat, from the boilers. Four other Cubans, who also stowed away in the hold, not far from the five, were in a serious condition when the ship arrived. They had been gassed by the fumes from the boilers and are not expected to live.
