The Federal Parliament has opened. The Governor-General’s speech stated that the financial position was satisfactory. After outlining measures forecasted by Mr Bruce yesterday, the speech said that the whole question of defence would be considered at the forthcoming Economic Conference. It was also proposed to establish a Commonwealth Debt Sinking Fund, and uniform bankruptcy laws. The speech concluded with a statement that it was confidently expected that the public at an early date would be given better postal and telegraphic facilities. N.S. WALES LABOUR CONFERENCE. EXTREMISTS ADMITTED BACK. SYDNEY, June 13. Mr Willis, at the Labour Conference, ruled that all members of the extremist section who broke away from Labour in 1919 be re-admitted to the fold with continuity of membership. A motion of dissent with the ruling was defeated by 126 to 58. Mr Willis also ruled that members of the Legislative Council were members of Parliament and consequently ineligible to sit on the Executive. TO DEFEAT COMMUNISTS. SYDNEY, June 13. (Received June 14, 12.10 a.m.). It is unofficially stated that a section of the Labour Party is preparing for calling a special conference in order to defeat the Communists.
