There was an impressive ceremony when Lord Allenby unveiled the Cross of Sacrifice and placed wreaths on the Stone of Remembrance in Kantara cemetery, in the presence of Anzac representatives and representatives of the French, Italian, Greek and Egyptian Governments and the British army. Kantara cemetery, where Lord Allenby urveiled the Cross, holds 1625 graves of all ranks, mostly killed at the battle of Romani in August, 1016, including 113 New Zealanders. Wreaths were deposited on behalf of the Australian and New Zealand Governments by Major and Mrs Buckland.
