A London cablegram repords the death Mr Herbert Jenkins, the author and publisher. Messrs R A. Anderson, J. T. Carswell and A. le H. Hoyles, who were present at the annual Winter Show at Dunedin, returned by Saturday night’s express. The Governor-General (His Excellency Viscount Jellicoe) and Sr Alfred Pickford left Auckland for the south last night, states a Press Association telegram. Mr A. A. Whitelaw, Inspector for the Associated Film Exchanges of New Zealand, arrived by the express on Saturday night and is staying at the Club Hotel. A Sydney cable reports the death of Randal Carey, a director in the Daily Telegraph newspaper, and prominent in commercial circles. In his early years he was a partner in the stock and station agency of Messrs Carey and Gillies, of Invercargill The death occurred yesterday evening of another of Southland’s pioneers, in the person of Mr Archibald Brown Campbell, at his residence, in Gala street. The late Mr Campbell was born at Roseneath, in Scotland, 77 years ago, and came to New Zealand in 1862, with his family, who took up farming in Southland. Mr Campbell himself shifted to Invercargill and started work as a coal merchant. Later he entered the shipping business, and became part owner of the ba Invercargill, the s.s. Kakanui, and the ba Rimu. Up to the time of his retirement, some six years ago, Mr Campbell was a very well-known and respected figure in Invercargill business circles. There are five children surviving, Mr J. 8. Campbell, of London, and Mr A. Campbell, Mr D. R. Campbell, Mr J. Campbell, and Miss J. Campbell, of Invercargill
