MISS POTERR’S DEA TH
HOSPITAL BOARD EXPLANATION (Per United Press Association). WELLINGTON, May 9. In connection with the death of Phyllis Porter of the Peep Show Company, the Hospital authorities deny that a telephone message was received, stating that the case was on its way to the Hospital. The first information was at the Hospital about 8.30, when a man asked for a stretcher, stating that a child had beexi burned. The doctor went out to the motor-car, but was told that the patient was in too much pain to be examined in the car. At the children’s ward it was found that the patient was an adult and was ordered to Ward 2. This ward had received no word of the case and on arrival no bed was ready, so the sister in charge, realising that it was an urgent case, sent the case on to Ward 1, where immediate attention could be got. The patient was in bed at 8.45.
The Hospital Board is to thoroughly investigate the circumstance*.
