LEAGUE OF NATIONS PROPOSAL. SIR JOHN SIMON’S QUESTION. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, May 1. (Received May 2, 5.5 p.m.i Sir John Simon in the House of Commons asked whether the League of Nations Council in March adopted a proposal to issue a decree by the League, as the responsible body under the Versailles Treaty, for the administration of the Saar and making it an offence, punishable by fine or imprisonment, to criticise publicly the Treaty of Versailles or the action of the League and what action the British representatives took. The Right Hon Stanley Baldwin replied that the statement was substantially correct. With regard to the British representatives’ attitude a statement would be made next week. FRENCH RUSE. ARRESTING HERR KRUPP. LONDON, May 1 (Received May 2, 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Chronicle’s Dusseldorf correspondent states that he French arrested Herr Krupp, brothei of the owner of Krupp's. He was on i usiness in Berlin and received a message th. t the French Judicial authorities wanted to see him in connection with the prosecution of four directors of Krupp’s works, who were arrested in connection with the shooting tragedy on March 31. Desiring to help his colleagues, Krupp returned and was immediately taken into custody and imprisoned at Werden. With his colleagues he is charged with plotting attack the French troops. GERMANY’S NOTE. BERLIN, May 2. (Received May 2, 7.35 p.m.) It is expected that the. note will be communicated to the powers to-day.
