LIQUOR SMUGGLING
AIRCRAFT USED IN AMERICA. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) I (Australian and N.Z. Gable Association. ) WASHINGTON, October 5. (Received October 5, 11.40 pan.) Mr Ralph Day, who to-day resigned the office, of prohibition director at New York, revealed the latest methods used by bootteggers to smuggle liquor into the United States. Mr Dey declares that 21 aeroplanes were operating regularly between New York and the Canadian border smuggling whisky. Both land and seaplanes were being used. They were equipped with trap bottoms enabling them to drop the contrabrand into rivers when they suspected prohibition agents were aware of their business.
