A TERRIBLE FAMILY
GERMAN MURDERERS CONDEMNED FEROCIOUS CRIMES (By Telegraph.--Press Assn.—Copyright). (/Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BERLIN, October 1. A father and his two sons, named Jankowski, have been condemned to death at Graudenz for a series of murders of unparalleled ferocity. /Assisted by other members of the family, including two daughters, the gang spread terror through the countryside. Armed with revolvers and axes, they attacked outlying farms and slaughtered all who opposed them with bestial ferocity. In four cases they murdered every inmate in the house, killing eight people with axes. In one case in which four of the victims were children, they even tortured and mutilated some victims before killing them. When captured by a patrol of mounted police Jankowski senior gloried in his infamy. Evidence of 22 murders was given at the trial.
