April 29: 182/- to 188/- per cwt (1/7$ to 1/8$ per lb). April 22: 180/- to 186/- per cwt (1/7$ to 1/8 per lb); exceptional 188/- per cwt (1/8$ per lb). May 6: Exceptional 188/- per cwt (1/8$ per lb). New Zealand (unsalted). —May 6: 178/to 180/- per cwt (1/7 to 1/7$ per lb). April 29: 180/- to 184/- per cwt (1/7$ to 1/7$ per lb). April 22: Do., do., do. April 22: 178/- to 184/- per cwt (1/7 to 1/7$ per lb). CHEESE. —Market rather depressed and business irregular until towards end of week, when demand improved at lower rates. Present quotations are: Canadian.—Coloured, 88/- to 98/- per cwt (9sd to 10$d per lb); white, 867- to 94/- per cwt (9sd to lOd per lb). April 29: Coloured, 92/- to 106/- per cwt (9sd to llsd per lb); white, 86/- to 96/- per cwt (9sd to 10$d per lb). Present quotations arj: Rennet, New Zealand £6O, French £45.
HONEY.—Market quiet and quotations nominal. New Zealand light amber prime 80/- to 84/- per cwt (Bsd to 9d per lb); light amber special 86/6 per cwt (9sd per lb); medium amber prime 75/- per cwt (8d per lb). HEMP. —Manila market again easier with poor demand. Output continues large com-, pared with last year. “G” grade AprilJune shipments and May-July shipments sold at £32 per ton early this week and June-August shipments at £3l 10/- per ton later. Present quotations are:—Sellers May-July shipments “G” and “H” grades, £3l per ton. Output January 1 to April 30, 373,000 bales, against 250.000 bales same period last year. New Zealand market again weaker with entire absence of demand. Sellers quote nominally high-points spot, £3O 10/- ppr ton; May-July shipments, £29 per ton; fair spot, £29 per ton; May-July shipments, £2B per ton. WOOL.—Sales continue satisfactorily, prices of crossbreds generally 5 per cent, dearer since opening. Continental demand is good. FRUIT.—Good demand for apples, and in ■ spite of heavy arrivals, three boats of Australian and two of New Zealand, supplies are selling readily. land, some wasty and shrivelled and fair amount not matured. Prices realised for good average fruit 16/- to 18/- per case for Dunn’s, London Pippin, Jonathan, Delicious. Cox’s 20/- to 24/- per case. “Wang&raita” arrived on Tuesday and commenced to discharge on Friday. EGGS.—Market firm with smaller arrivals and steady demand. Present quotations are: Irish, English, Dutch, Danish, 15/- to 17/6; Russian, Styrian, 13/- to 13/6.
