PROPOSED ROSS SMITH MEMORIAL. SYDNEY. August 31. The Advertising Men's Congress decided to ask the Federal Government to erect, at the Federal capital a memorial to Sir Ross Smith and his companions as a recognition of the advertisement which their (light gave to Australia throughout the world. Mr G. Beckett, of New Zealand, was elected one of the vice-prc.-idi , nt.s of the association. QUEENSLAND SUGAR CROP. CONSIDERABLE SHORTAGE PREDICTED, BRISBANE, August 31.
The superintendent, of sugar experiment stations states that owing to the late drought the sugar produced in Australia will lie 100.0(H) tons short of requirements.
