A BRIDGE OBSTRUCTED. NARROW ESCAPE OF GOODS TRAIN. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Juno 24. A poods train from Dunedin to Omakau narrowly escaped a serious accident at 9 o’clock last evening. Heavy snow had fallen an i the engine-driver was keeping a careful look-out when, within a few yards of Lauder bridge, he noticed an object between the rails and stopped just in tune to avoid a collision. Investigation showed that a horse had got jammed between the sleepers of the bridge. The train returned to Lauder for tackle. When the horse was extricated it was dead.
