SUPERPHOSPHATES
PRONOUNCED SHORTAGE IN CHRISTCHURCH. (Special to the Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 24. There is a pronounced scarcity of superphosphates, and acording to merchants, it is likely that unless shipments come to hand there will be insufficient of this manure foi the spring sowing of wheat. The position i> especially serious became Australia hys pro hibited lire export of the manure, and the need that a large area should be put down in wheat lor (he coming season is great No large supplies have come forward for eighteen months, ami although merchants origin ally had large stocks these are practically exhausted. Already several firms who mix and otherwise deal with the manure have had to cease operations with respect to this side of their business.
