Landru, confronted with his wife in Court, burst into tears and apologised for “this ridiculous affair,” which revealed his unfaithfulness “to you whom I love.” He asked her not to attach importance to “these silly charges,” Bidding her good-bye he said, “Dear, forgive your innocent husband his little sins.”
