SCHOOL COMMITTEES

MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS. GLENCOE. —The annual meeting was attehdcd by four householders, Mr Archibald. McKay presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring Committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £l9 14s, and the expenditure to £lB 12s Id, the balance in hand being £l3 7s od. The following vrtre elected to the new Committee: —Messrs Archibald McKay (chairman), Wm. Macdonald, Wm. Young, Donald McDonald, J. Graham (secretary). HAPPY VALLEY. —The anuual meeting was attended by a few householders, Mr W. C. Cochran presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £3l 6s, and the expenditure to £l9 14s 6d, the balance in hand being £ll 11s 6d. * The average attendance for the year was 13. -The following were elected to the new committee: —Messrs W. C. Cochran (chairman and secretary), D. McKerchar (treasurer), M. Caughey, Chas. Knowler, Richard Knowler.

NIAGARA. —The annual meeting was attended by only four householders, members of committee. As no committee was elected, the old committee decided to carry on as usual until next election.

ORTON.—There were only three householders present, and the meeting lapsed.

OTERAMIKA.—'The annual meeting was attended by five householders, Mr Chas. Clay presiding. PINE RUSH. —The annual meeting was attended by only three householders, and the meeting lapsed. PUTANGAHAU. The annual meeting was attended by five householders, Mr Wm. Rhodes presiding. The following were elected to the new committee: Messrs J. H. Buckingham (chairman and secretary), George Crosbie, Wm. Rhodes, James Crosbie, jun., A. Marshall. TUTURAU. —The annual meeting was attended by seven householders, Mr R. Dickie presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £4l 17s 81d, and the expenditure to £l7 18s 2d, the balance in band being £24 9s 6*. The average attendance for the year was 37. The following were elected to the new committee: Messrs Muir, jun. (chairman), R. Clearwater, R. Dickie, J. McGrouther, Jno. Shanks .(secretary and treasurer). WAIKAIA.—The annual meeting was attended by householders, Mr D. Wilson presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts of the year amounted to £B3 15s 6d, and the expenditure to £SO 19s 7d, the balance in hand being £32 15s lid. The average attendance for the year was 98.3. The following were elected to ; the new committee Messrs J. McKissock (chairman), J. Dennis, J. McKay, W. Ayson, D. Wilson (secretary and treasure). WAIKAKA VALLEY. The annual meeting was attended by five householders. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed a credit balance in hand of £l4 3s 7d. The following were elected to'the new committee; —Messrs James McPhail (chairman), B. Chittock, J. Johnston, A. D. Martin, J. A. Anderson. WAIPOUNAMU. The annual meeting was attended by five householders, Mr Jas. Winter presiding. The following were elected to the new committee: Messrs Jas. Winter (chairman), Jas. Clark (secretary and treasurer), Alex. McAllan, Henry Miller, Herbert Tayles. WAITUNA.—The annual meeting was attended by 4 householders, Mr D. McKenzie presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £32 14s 3d, and the expenditure to £2O 16s Id, the balance in hand being £ll 18s 2d. The average attendance for the year was 47. The following were elected to the new committee: Messrs D. McKenzie (chairman), J. McNaughton, J. Lawson, and J. Hoddinott. WYNDHAM.—The annual meeting was attended by nine householders, Mr A. A. Wilson presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £73 3s Id, and the expenditure to £47 14s, the balance in hand being £25 9s Id. The average attendance for the year was 212.6. The following were elected to the new committee: Messrs A. A. Wilson (chairman), W, A. Allison (secretary and treasurer), M. McKerrow, W. Stevens, W. A. Leitch, P. Farrington, P. Courtis, Geo. Millar, J. Munro. TARAMOA.—Owing to an insufficient number of householders attending the meeting lapsed. GLENORCHY.—The annual meeting was attended by eleven householders, Mr G. Reid presiding. • The statement of accounts subnutted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £l9 and the expenditure to £l7 18a sd, the balance in hand being £lO Os 3d. The average attendance for the year was 28. The following were elected to the new committee:—Messrs G. Reid (chairman), J. Bowler, W. Northcoat, J. Forbes and J. Tripp. SP-RINGHILLS.—The annual meeting was attended by 12 householders, Mr D. Mcßae presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed a credit balance in hand of £l2. The average attendance for the year was 24.- The following were elected to the new committee:—Messrs C. Wilson (chairman), C. Hodgkinson (secretary), D. Mcßae, James Patterson, W. MitchelL MATAURA ISLAND.—The annual meeting was attended by a few householders, Mr James Dunlop presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed a credit balance in hand of £ls 18s lid. The following were elected to the new committee:—Messrs James Dunlop (chairman), F. Christie, J. Richardson, G. Dickson, R. Kirkland (secretary). EAST LIMEHILLS.—The annual meeting was attended by eight householders, Mr J. O’Shannessy presiding. The statement of accounts submitted by the retiring committee showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £l6 10s and the expenditure to £l4 17s 2d, the balance in band being £1 12s lOd. The average attendance for the year was 18. The following were elected to the new committee:— Messrs A. Birss (chairman), E. Paul, J. O’Shannessy, A. Brantes, D. W. McKenzie.
