EXPORT OF HIDES. WAR EMBARGO LIFTED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON', December 12. The Minister of Customs has granted general permission for the exportation of hides and calfskins to the United Kingdom and British possessions, and for the exportation of tallow to British possessions and to the United States. Co., Lord Inchcape, Chair-. man, said that the liabilities, amounting to £5,822,563 included a considerable sum to meet the increased cost of building. The Company would as speedily as possible resume their position in the Eastern, Far Eastern, and Australian trades, but with so* many ships sunk it would be some time before the Company was able to offer the travelling public the convenience, comfort, and regularity to which they were accustomed before the war.
