ALBION THEATRE. That admirably screened picture, “Maternity,” proved an excellent draw at the Albion last night, when every available seat was occupied. The question asked in the picture is, “Are there circumstances under which marriage should justly not mean maternity?” An extraordinarily fine scene, the triumphant rescue of another woman’s baby, brings home to the young wife the emptiness of her life. Chapter 4 of the “Iron Claw” is a tip-top support, and completes a programme of more than average merit. POPULAR PICTURE PALACE, There was a crowded house last night when a delightful programme was presented. Mary Miles Minter, in “The Innocence of Lizette,” quite won the hearts of everyone present. The picture is one of the happiest seen here and kept the audience in a constant ripple of laughter. “The Secret of the Submarine” is intensely interesting, without being in any way sordid or gruesome. The supports are excellent.
