SALES OF WORK
TEVIOT ST. METHODIST. The members of the Junior Christian Endeavour of the Teviot St. Methodist Church held their annual concert and sale of work, etc., in aid of Home and Foreign Missions yesterday. After the official opening by the Mayoress, business at the afternoon session was brisk. In the evening a juvenile concert programme, which had been arranged by Miss Bessie Cheyne, was submitted, and met with hearty approval from the crowded schoolroom. The merchandise “went” well this time also, and the mission funds should benefit considerably as a result of the venture. NORTH INVERCARGILL BAPTIST. The sale of work at the above church was opened at 2.30 yesterday afternoon by the Rev. H. B. Hughes, who congratulated the church on the success which had attended their efforts to promote such a fine bazaar. It had taken a lot of time and work preparing for it, and the array of goods for sale bore testimony to this. All the stalls did a record business during the afternoon, and again in the evening, between the items of the programme, which was as follows: —Songs, Mrs H. B. Hughes, Messrs Stephens and Murray, and the Rev. H. B. Hughes; recitations, Rev. H. -B. Hughes and Master C. Pay. These were all enthusiastically received, and altogether the event proved the most successful yet held by the church. Mention must be made of the various lady helpers who worked so assiduously throughout, viz., Mesdames Uftdn, Hewitt, Roberts, Pearce, and Mellow, Misses Hewitt, Pigeon, and Dewar.
