The prices for sheep were considerably down from last month’s rates. Sheep—We sold on account of Mr lAllan iMarshall, 70 forward ewes at 23/3 to Aler. McDonald, 23 store ewes at 17/to Arthur Kricson, 144 fat and forward lambs at 25/- to Meil Mc-Kwan, 44 store lambs at 21/1 to Blair Bros., 45 store lambs at 21/1 to Samuel Walker. Account J. Messrs Hunter Bros & Rice report:— IA. fairly large yarding of sheep and cattle came forward for sale, when a fairly satisfactory sale resulted. All classes of sheep were slightly back, except good young ewes, which sold readily. There was a large yarding of cattle, hut as prices were hack a little, Aome of the lots did not reach vendors' reserves and were passed. The sale for sheep was draggy, aged owes and lambs being very hard to sell. There were very few good wethers or young ewes forward, but these met with fair demand. The entry of cattle was very large, the bulk of the yarding being ui sold. The offerings of wheat are still very limited, and the next return published by the Government Statistician showing the amount threshed is being awaited. The oats market is dull, and holders of grain In the country are not prepared to accept the ruling price. Steady business is being done in potatoes at £4 to £1 2/6, according to distance, for delivery in May, and £4 5/for delivery in June.
