MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
RIVERTON. NORTH WARD. Great interest was evinced in the above election, over 84 per cent, of the electors recording their votes. Messrs Green and Hymers, the two retiring councillors, were elected, Mr Srmth taking the place of Mr A. Provan, who did not seek re-election. Results:— JAMES GREEN 90 ALEX. SMITH 89 JAMES HYMERS 77 ERNEST B. GEE 76 Mr J. C. Thomson, M.P., was appointed to represent the Riverton and Otautau Boroughs on the Wallace and Fiord Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, vice Mr E. K. Smythies, who did not seek re-election. CHRISTCHURCH RESULT. SUCCESS OF CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION (Pei- United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. April 27. The second count has resulted in the return of four more Citizens' Association candidates to the City Council, viz.;— Messrs J. R. Hayward, W. Nicholls, A. Williams, and P. R. Climie. The parties now stand. Seven Citizens’ Association; two Labour: one Independent.
