ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
MOTOR AND TRAIN COLLIDE. RETURNED SOLDIER KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. A collision occurred this morning at Rangiora between a goods train and motor car containing Dr Burnett and a returned soldier, E. Orchard. The latter was seriously hurt, and died in the hospital in the evening. Dr Burnett marvellously escaped. WOMAN’S SUDDEN DEATH. HAMILTON, April 27. Mrs James SillicU, who was on a visit to Hamilton East from Hikurangi, in the Whangarei district, expired suddenly last evening upon reaching home after spending the evening with friends. It is anticipated that heart failure was the cause of death. CRUSHED BETWEEN TRUCKS. AUCKLAND, April 27. A resident of Penrose, Frank Rhodes, was crushed between railway trucks at Westfield, and died three hours later in the hospital.
