A cable received from London early this month directed that two artesian wells, capable of supplying at least 500,000 gallons of water daily, straightway should be sunk. This work, therefore, is not only already in hand, but it can be expected that immediately the war is over further and rapid progress will at once be made.

It is encouraging to find people like Nestle’s displaying such confidence In New Zealand that they are ready, to make so substantial and permanent an investment as this factory, machinery and appliances represent. Not only willl Palmerston North primarily benefit, but the whole dominion is advanced when important manufacturing like this comes about. Then, what has hitherto been an importation is converted into a local industry of potential character. It should be mentioned that in Australia already there are two extensive Nestle Condensed Milk factories—one in Victoria, the other In Queensland.
