THE PARK DRAIN
To the Editor. Wr,—x notice In the Council Committee report re the above that they recommend piping a small portion running through the reserve and battening both ddes from Elies road of the remainder and cleaning it out. This appears to me as simply tinkering with the question. This drain has been a public nuisance for a number of years past and should 90 longer be tolerated. I consider the Council have a right to grapple with the question of piping the whole of it from Elies road, even if they have to borrow the money. Why not use the money from the Feldwick Trust towards this desirable work in the Interest of the health of the town. I hope the now councillors will have something to say on such an important municipal improvement by insisting on the committee giving it further consideration. The epidemic of diphtheria In our midst is supposed to be due to this insanitary open drain and the Punl creek, and temporary measures such as are proposed are not in the interests of the pulblc, even from a financial point of view.— 2 am, etc. SOLID IMPROVEMENT.
