THE RIVERTON TRAIN.
To the Editor. Sir, —I notice in this morning’s issue of your paper, a report of a meeting of the Council of the Southland League, in which the Riverton Branch is advocating an improvement in their train services. In reply to their representations, the General Traffic Manager, Mr Hiley, was reported to have replied that “perhaps the train from Tuatapere could be made to depart at an earlier hour." Now, Sir, on behalf of the people of Tuatapere. 1 would most emphatically protest against any such thing being done. The present hour—6.2s a_m. —is too early. What people at this end want, is the train’s departure “delayed” for an hour, and we maintain that this can be done without much detriment to the western district train services.—l am, etc., G. B. CHARLTON. Tuatapere, 20th December.
