WALLACETOWN STOCK SALE. GOOD YARDINGS. FETCH BIG PRICES. The usual weekly stock sale was held in the Wallacetown yards yesterday, when there was a large and representative gathering of buyers. -There were good yardings forward in all classes, fat sheep being especially well represented. Throughout competition was keen, and prices were well maintained. Appended is a comparative table of the yardings yesterday and for the two previous ao I PS!—

FAT CATTLK. in this class there was a very fair yarding, and the quality all over was decidedly good, there being a number of pens of really first-class stuff forward. One or two lots of very decent bullocks were included and these met with keen competition and a ready sale, as also did the few pens of nice heifers. Freezing men were bidding freely, while butchers also seemed to be in need of plenty of stuff with the result that the entire yarding changed hands. Values may be quoted: Ox beef, 11/- to 15/-; heifer. 42/- to 13/-; cow, 10/- to 41/-. FAT SHEEP. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep forward yesterday, and most of the stuff was in good condition. There was a good demand, botli from butchers and freezing operators and, considering the number forward, a very good sale resulted, the whole yarding being cleared. Extra prime wethers were making 31/to 35/-, with prime 30/- to 32/-, and medium 28/- to 29/-. Extra prime ewes brought 25/- to 26,'-, with medium and unfinished from 20/- to 23/-. STORE CATTLE. There was a fairly big yarding of Otore cattle, and all classes were represented. The bigger cattle were all low in condition but, nevertheless, had plenty of breeding and met with a ready sale. Eighteen-month-old steers and heifers, as well as calves, were forward in strong force, and all sorts met with a good sale at prices equal to last week’s quotations. Good milking sorts, especially, were in strong demand. STORE SHEEP. CHBZSTCHUBCK MARXISTS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. July IS. The vvheat market. is still very firm, and there haa been rather more business

doing during the past few days. Although the lots arc generally small, there have been more offerings by growers. Tuscan is the variety that is eniefly on sale, Hunters and Pearl, 'especially the latter, being scarce. Sales of prime quality Tuscan have, been made at from 4/5 to 4/6 at country stations, and as low as 4/- for fowl-wheat. Hunters are worth from 4/9 to 4/10; and Pearl, 5/at country stations.

The oats and chaff market are still unchanged, oa£s being scarce. The potato market is easier, and owing to the difficulty of effecting sales merchants have reduced their limit and purchases have been made at £6 at country stations. There have not been many potatoes offering lately, farmers being busy with farm work, and inclined to wait until next month before Selling, in tbe hope of obtaining £7. The difficulty of obtaining new orders has, however, caused uncertainty, hence the reduction of price. t
