THE DEMAND FOR MOKE WAGES. DET ERMIXK D A TTITU DE. (Per United Press Association.) WEHHiNGTOX, February 21. At a meeting of railway employees held vesterday the following resolution was carried: "That this representative meeting emphatically protests against the altitude of the Minister of Railways with regard to the increase of pay asked for by railwaymen, and consider that members have homo wito this attitude long enough, and demand an all-round increase of at least two shillings a day. Failing a satisfactory reply within a fortnight, the Executive Council be urged to return to Wellington immediately to consider uhat Blither drastic action be taken. That, in view of the satisfactory interview with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Railways, this branch now calls upon the Executive at once to convene a spectral conference as requested by thirty branches, representing 7)000 members. WANGANUI, February 21, A special general meeting of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants was addressed by the President and the following motion was carried. that, in the event of the Governments retiming to increase rail waymen's pay, the Executive Council immediately convene a" meeting in Wellington of branch representatives, who will act in accordance with instructions received from their respective branches —such instructions to be given at a special meeting of the various branches."
