“We had an electric sign near and within direct view of the best corner In Indianapolis. The sign cost a rental of 90dol. a month, but we were never able to trace any sale to this medium. II T. Conner, prominently identified with the retail shoe trade of Baltimore and Indiana, has had considerable experience witli various forms of advertising. In speaking of these expert cnees Mr Conner said; — "I have just cancelled six painted display boards in Baltimore. 1 hardly believe we can trace lOOdol wortn of business to these boards, while they cost approximately 2900d01. “X don’t think that car advertising is even worth talking about. We advertised a sale and it was a joke. I later advertised in the newspapers and sold my short lines." Newspaper advertising Mr Conner said, is easily the best and most effective medium, as well as least expensive in the long run.
