In connection with the Limitation of the Price of Coal Bill, Air Kunciman’s amendment was passed to bring contracts since April 1 within the scope of the Bill. Sir LI. Markham and others expressed their satisfaction. TO PROTECT CONSUMERS DIFFICULTIES OP REGULATION LONDON, July 2S, Received July 28, S.la p.m. An amendment to fix the retail prices of coal was negatived. Mr Runciman said that the .Departmental Committee had considered the question of the poor being victimised and found that it was practically necessary to follow the coalhawkers from door to door to ensure the observance of the regulation. The principal merchants were prepared ”fo open depots in the poorer districts. He recommended the public to patronise the merchants who entered into the Government agreement. The Bill was read a third time.
