A London cable states that the British Minister for Foreign Affairs (Sir Edward Grey) has resumed his duties. Mr Hugh MoFeely, head teacher at Tuatapere, will represent the Western District at the annual, conference of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute at Wellington next week. Mr Thomas Bogue, of the Wyndham branch, has been transferred to the central branch of the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin. One of the most popular and highly esteemed residents of the Otautau district passed away on Wednesday afternoon in the person of Mr Robert J. Jacjuiery, after a short illness. In every phase of life the late Mr Jaquiery was well known and esteemed. He was a first-class tradesman, capital sport, good business man and a universal favourite. He leaves a wife and a young family to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place this afternoon at Otautau. On Tuesday evening, Mr B. Sherburd, who is being trails L'erred from the statioumastership at Wyndham railway station to the Invercargill head office, was met by his fellow boarders at Mrs McNichofs, and presented with a handsome case of pipes as a parting souvenir, says the Wyndham Farmer. At the same time Mr SUerburd was made the recipient of a travelling hag and grip, subscribed by a few of the townspeople who desired to specially acknowledge the invariable courtesy and efficient service rendered by him in his official capacity. Mr Hastings Wilson, who made botli presentations, expressed the sentiments of the subscribers, wishing the guest every success in the future; and these remarks were heartily - endorsed by several others among those present. Mr Sherhnrd's reply was typical of the man —modest, self-effacing, and yet manly. He said he had a very pleasant stay in Wyndham, and anything he had done was begotten of a souse of duty and civility. Mr Sherburd left for Invercargill on Thursday evening.
