The Fisheries Department reports a recurrence of the trouble on the State trawlers. Simultaneously, when the trawlers were twenty miles apart, and making good hauls, the firemen of the two vessels ceased work, and the engineers were compelled to do the homeward stoking. The Department is reluctantly compelled to adopt the view that there is some concerted action in operation to interfere witli ttie success of the Government's trawling scheme. The Minister is determined that nothing shall he allowed to stand in the way of supplying the public with fish. PAPUAN JURIES. MELBOURNE, June S. Judge Murray’s report on the practice of trial by jury in Papua is confirmatory of the conclusions reached by Judge Bevan in a Northern Territory trial. It states that the Jury system is distinctly unsatisfactory in cases where whites arc accused of offences against natives. THE HILTON TRAGEDY. ADELAIDE, June S. ■The cause of the Hilton tragedy is stated lo lie domestic quarrels in consequence of the woman's conduct. These gradually increased in violence and culminated in the tragedy. On the table near Grane's body was a message intimating that he suspected his wife, and thought that she and the children were better dead. _______
