The Imperial Exchequer is benefiting enormously by the Secretary of Finance’s clever ruse, promising not to take judicial proceedings against those who have not declared their full incomes for previous years if they now do so os a patriotic duly. There is every prospect that the war levy will far exceed the £50,000,000 needed.
