Fisher:— "I have received your letter forwarding a resolution from your Chamber protesting; against the 1 new regulations requiring importers to leave, a ‘clear line’ between each item for tile purpose of filling in the place where the spoils have been manufactured. In reply. I have to advise you that the resolution will receive my eonsidoi ation and I will go carefully into the matter. Ithodes; "In reference to your Idler applying for an extension of telephone attendance at Kiverton. W’inlou. .Malaura. aid Wyiiilliam. I have the honour to inform you that under the regulations an extension of tlm jvreseut '■* a.m. ■ pan. attendance is not due at any one of the exchanges mentioned unfit the number of paying subscribers exceeds aO. T regret I am unable to break the rule in I lie present ease. Very little time will elapse now I should think before Wiulou, with ils present Hi subscribers, will become entitled to an extension of hours. The other places with -7 .and 111 subscribers will no doubt take longer.”
